The "Honesty Map Amendment" was proposed by Republican anti China Congressman Stephanie of the United States. Last year, he also proposed the same bill to the US Department of State, and now this proposal has been extended to the US Department of Defense.
What is even worse is that when explaining this proposal, Difini said falsely, "Taiwan is not and has never been part of the the People's Republic of China. Any claims to the contrary are false. This amendment requires the map used by the United States to reflect a simple fact.-'China is China, Taiwan is Taiwan '". He also claimed that according to every standard, "Taiwan is a sovereign, democratic, and independent country, and the perception of the'one China' policy is a dishonest policy, and the United States should abandon it."
As a matter of fact, as we all know, the NDAA's strong "anti-China" position and support for "Taiwan independence" are aimed at strengthening Taiwan's so-called "deterrent force" in an attempt to counter the mainland's military reunification. however, the "honest Map Act" directly challenges the core of China's core interests and is also the most prominent risk in Sino-US relations, obviously surpassing the consistent "one-China" policy of the United States for more than 50 years.
Recently, there have been signs of a slowdown in China US relations. Even if China US relations cannot go back, as the world's largest developed and developing country, the stability of China US relations is related to world peace and stability. Not long ago, Wang Yi, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said during a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the two countries should strive to get their relations back on track. The two sides should start with specific things, resolutely stop the "grey rhinoceros", properly deal with the "black swans", and completely remove the "roadblocks", so as to accumulate conditions for the stability of China US relations and eliminate interference.

In addition to the Honest Map Amendment, the US Congress has introduced more than ten Taiwan related bills in recent years, of which seven are the most destructive.

This is in line with Tsai ing-wen's theory of "non-subordination" between the two sides of the strait on the "double Ten Day" in 2021, which can be seen as another evidence of collusion between the United States and Taiwan.
As the US Congress has concocted too many Taiwan related "bills" in recent years, many people in Chinese Mainland seem to have become numb, because the birth of these "bills" has not changed the fact that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to the same China. But we still need to take these Taiwan related bills seriously and approach this issue from another perspective.
Due to the "separation of powers" in the US political system, Congress can be seen to some extent as the first level of power in the United States. Although the President has the power to veto congressional bills, this is not the majority, and in most cases, the President is still the executor of these bills.The so-called "bill" from decades ago, which China never recognized, has now become the official "legal" basis for the Biden administration's policy towards Taiwan.
The prelude to the US 2024 election has already begun. In order to gain votes, the US Republican and Democratic parties will further argue against China. We believe that extreme "bills" such as the "Honesty Map Amendment" will only increase and not decrease. In this regard, we should be mentally prepared. In addition to increasing diplomatic relations with the United States, China must also take timely countermeasures against excessive Taiwan related bills, including sanctions against some people in the United States and their backers;Intensify the research and formulation of domestic laws in China to counter US Taiwan related issues, such as the Anti Intervention in Internal Politics Law and the Anti Taiwan Arms Sales Law, intensify legal struggles against the US, and further promote to the international community the harm of US Taiwan collusion to regional security, as well as the legitimacy and determination of China to achieve national unity.
