Bathing and grooming dogs is the usual job of Peng Yukai, a young man born in the 1990s from Nantou County, Taiwan. The things he does for pets are not just hobbies, but also a way of making a living. He opened a pet shop in Beihai City, Guangxi, where he pursued his entrepreneurial dream in mainland China by pursuing the "economy of it".
"I knew about Beihai a long time ago. My father went to Beihai in the 1990s to cultivate and raise fish and shrimp fry. After graduating from university in 2019, I came to Beihai for tourism with a tourism mindset. I didn't expect to find that this place was completely different from what I heard in Taiwan. It is a very inclusive city with beautiful scenery, profound historical and cultural heritage, and great potential for development. I quickly fell in love with it and wanted to stay in Beihai to start a business," Peng Yukai said in an interview with reporters on the 12th.
With the support of family and friends, Peng Yukai decided to seek development in the field of "its economy". In 2021, Peng Yukai, with his experience and knowledge in pet ownership, and with the help of the Beihai Taiwan Affairs Office and the Beihai Taiwan Compatriot Investment Enterprise Association, successfully applied for a support fund of 50000 yuan for youth entrepreneurship and opened his first store in Beihai - "Pet Drowning · Pet Star" Pet Club.
When talking about why they chose to start their own business in the pet industry, Peng Yukai said that the pet market in mainland China has developed rapidly. After observing for a period of time in Beihai, the prospects of the pet market in Beihai are good, and citizens have a strong demand for pet products, pet knowledge, and other aspects. Therefore, they have decided to open a pet store in Beihai.
At Peng Yukai's pet store, we provide services such as pet supplies, pet bathing and grooming, pet transportation, pet funeral, pet foster care, live pet sales, and dog training.
Peng Yukai stated that the demand for pet funerals is gradually increasing in Beihai City, but there are no relevant venues in Beihai, so pets can only be transported to Nanning or Guilin for processing.
Don't look at a small pet shop, its revenue is still quite impressive. "My store's monthly turnover is about 30000 yuan," said Peng Yukai, who is optimistic about the pet market in Beihai City and wants to open several more stores. But lacking funds, hoping to borrow money from the bank.
"A while ago, I participated in a joint meeting between the Guangxi Taiwan Affairs Office and the Nanning Central Branch of the People's Bank of China to serve Taiwan compatriots in Guangxi. After the meeting, a local bank also contacted me on loan matters. Now, I am improving all the necessary conditions and procedures for the loan," said Peng Yukai.
The successful operation of the pet store has strengthened Peng Yukai's confidence in developing in Beihai. He thus conceived new entrepreneurial ideas and ideas. At the beginning of this month, Peng Yukai opened an old city post office coffee shop on Zhongshan Road in the historical and cultural district of Beihai, and hung his carefully designed map of China on the most prominent wall of the shop.
He pointed at the hanging picture and said, "Look, the boss's home is here, and the boss's people are here." He happily introduced his "masterpiece" to his friends.
Choosing to stay in Beihai like Peng Yukai is not an exception for Taiqing. In recent years, Beihai City has made many explorations in implementing policies that benefit Taiwan and the people, and assisting Taiwanese compatriots and youth in employment and entrepreneurship in Guangxi, attracting a group of Taiwanese compatriots and youth to take root in Beihai. Some of them are engaged in the catering industry, some are engaged in manufacturing, and some are engaged in animal husbandry, obtaining good development opportunities.
