Peking University has suspended the permission for multiple people to make appointments. As soon as the campus was opened for visits, a research group illegally entered a prestigious university | Peking University | Appointment
Starting from July 8th, Peking University and Tsinghua University will open visits to tourists who have made advance reservations to meet the demand for summer public visits. In addition, many well-known universities in China have recently announced plans to visit.
The reporter from Pengpai News noticed that while many universities are open for campus visits, some teams under the guise of "research and learning" have disrupted the summer order of university campuses.
For example, on July 7th, the Security Department of Peking University issued a violation notice: On July 5th, it was discovered that an off campus research and learning team called "Wolf Dad Tribe" had broken down reservations by contacting on campus personnel, borrowing accounts to post appointment and help seeking information on the Shudong platform, and had multiple on campus teachers and students make appointments to enter the school.
The notice mentioned that after research, the handling suggestions are as follows: 1. Close the appointment and admission system access of the organization's personnel, Dr. Yuan Mouxing from the School of Physics, and will not be restored. Notify the Ministry of Education to strengthen educational management.
2. Suspend the appointment system access for the team's on campus reservation personnel for 2 months. Specifically: Chen Mouying, Tao Mouchun, Hou Mou, Li Moudong, Mei Mourui, Wang Moulin, and Yu Mouxun from the School of Physics; Yu Mouxin and Zhang Moulun from the School of Earth and Space Sciences; Han and Zhang from the School of Foreign Languages; Zhao and Liu from the School of Information Science and Technology; Master Zhou from the School of Electronics; Cai Mouting, School of Clinical Medicine; Jiao Moutao, School of Basic Medicine; Chen Mouyu, Department of Sociology; Chen, School of Mathematical Sciences; Chen Mouxuan from the New Media Research Institute; An from the School of Government Management.
3. Relevant departments and departments should strengthen publicity, standardize the management of the usage permissions of the appointment system, and prevent the occurrence of illegal appointment behaviors.
The Security Department of Peking University also stated in the aforementioned notice that all teachers, students, and staff should strictly abide by the rules for using the appointment system, do not trust appointment and help seeking information on platforms such as Shudong, and strictly prohibit any illegal appointment behavior such as profiting from appointment permissions, in order to jointly maintain campus order.
According to Xinhua News Agency, according to Peking University regulations, tourists can make appointments 7 days in advance through the "Visit Peking University" WeChat mini program or by scanning the WeChat mini program code; After a successful appointment, visitors can bring valid identification documents and enter the campus through the dedicated channel for campus visits. Tsinghua University has specified that the campus will be open for external visits from July 8th to August 6th. Individual visitors can make real name appointments through the "Visit Tsinghua" WeChat mini program, and can make appointments for the same day and the next 7 days. After a successful appointment, they can enter the school with their ID card through the dedicated channel for school visits, undergo identity verification and security checks. For team visits, according to Tsinghua regulations, appointments can be made for the next 14 days and are only open to primary and secondary school students. The booking subject is primary and secondary schools or education authorities; After a successful appointment, bring relevant materials and verify them before entering the school.
To ensure normal teaching, scientific research, and living order on campus, Peking University requires that individual and team visitation appointments be subject to quota management, and tourist motor vehicle appointments are temporarily not open; Teaching, scientific research, office, library, gymnasium, dormitory and other places are non open areas and are not allowed to be visited. Tsinghua University also stipulates that visitors must follow the prescribed route and visit within the designated area. All types of vehicles used by visitors are prohibited from entering the school, and non open areas and teaching and office buildings on campus are not open to visitors.
In addition, the two schools also stated that campus visits do not charge any fees and reminded tourists to refuse paid reservations for visiting services under any name. Tourists should consciously abide by laws, regulations, and school management regulations after entering the school, and jointly maintain good campus order.
The surging journalists noticed that this summer was the first summer after the COVID-19, and many "Tsinghua Beida research and study tours" named "president class" and "calligraphy and painting class" became popular options for parents to sell orders for their children.
Recently, CCTV and other media exposed the numerous "traps" behind the hot summer "university research tour", which attracted public attention. According to a journalist's investigation, it was found that some educational programs cost parents a lot of money, but the actual content does not match the advertising and there is suspicion of false advertising.
For example, the Beijing Evening News reported that for a summer research program at a prestigious university, the advertisement clearly mentioned a visit to Peking University, with a price of up to 9980 yuan. Some parents registered their children to get closer to the prestigious university. But in the end, it was discovered that the money was not worth it, and the child did not even enter the campus of Peking University. According to the staff, "Considering the child's wish to check in at a prestigious school, we will arrange for everyone to take a group photo at the entrance of Tsinghua or Peking University."
In a further investigation, a reporter from the Beijing Evening News found that there are still quite a few research and learning programs on the market that are being promoted under the guise of prestigious schools.
For example, in some projects, photos of the gates of Tsinghua and Peking University are placed on the promotional homepage. Upon careful reading of the introduction, it is discovered that the so-called Tsinghua Graduate School actually leads students to visit the Tsinghua University Art Museum, which is located outside the campus of Tsinghua University. Ordinary tourists can make an appointment to visit by paying 20 yuan for a ticket. Some projects claim to have invited "graduates or teachers from prestigious schools" to teach, but there is no clear explanation of the identity of the teachers. It is also impossible to verify whether they are actually "from prestigious schools" as advertised. These educational programs are far from the expectations of parents and students for prestigious school tours.
After conducting an investigation in June this year, the Legal Daily found that in recent years, the popularity of study tours for primary and secondary school students has gradually increased. According to relevant data, as of now, there are over 5000 companies related to "study camps" and "summer camps" in China, and the overall scale of China's research travel market is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan in the future.
However, a reporter from the Legal Daily found through investigation that while the graduate market is thriving, various problems have emerged with the involvement of a large number of for-profit institutions, including a lack of unified standards for fees, poor quality of graduate courses, lack of qualifications for graduate institutions, and inability to ensure student safety. Behind the chaos, there are many parents and students who come with enthusiasm but return with disappointment, which also makes many parents of students hesitate.
