According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, at 15:31 on August 19, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Shizhong District, Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 8 kilometers.
According to a reporter from Chao News, this is the fourth earthquake in Neijiang within 36 hours. On the morning of August 18th, three earthquakes occurred in the Neijiang area of Sichuan, with the highest magnitude of 4.0 and focal depths of 10 kilometers.
Due to the earthquake, there were varying degrees of tremors felt along the railway lines and some stations in Sichuan Province. To ensure the safety of passenger transportation, the railway department quickly activated emergency plans, urgently blocked the relevant sections of the Chengdu Chongqing intercity railway and the Mianlu high-speed railway, conducted comprehensive inspections of train equipment, and identified safety hazards. Some connecting trains were delayed due to earthquakes and inspections.
Earthquakes causing delays in some train services
"Due to the impact of the earthquake, both yesterday and today's high-speed trains were delayed," Xiao Su told Chao News reporters. Yesterday morning, the G8791 train she was taking was traveling from Chengdu to Fushun. Due to the Neijiang earthquake on the 18th, the train that originally departed at 9:10 and arrived at 10:40 did not arrive until 2 pm in the afternoon. The train stopped twice midway, "The first time it stopped for 30 minutes, and the second time it stopped in Zigong for about an hour. In Zigong, passengers in a hurry can get off first."
At 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the train staff distributed eight treasure Congee and water to Xiao Su and other passengers.
This afternoon, Xiaosu's G8784 train was delayed again due to the Neijiang earthquake. "After arriving at the waiting hall, we were informed that the train was delayed, but we didn't specify how long it would be. They said we could choose to either refund our tickets or wait. I waited for about an hour and a half before the train arrived."
Xiao Su recalled that the train that originally departed at 17:25 and arrived at 18:45 did not arrive in Chengdu until around 9:30 pm. The car also stopped twice midway, "I stopped in Zigong for at least an hour, and I drove slowly afterwards because of the earthquake, which is understandable."

Ms. Jiang recalled that the train was traveling at a speed of 66km/h on the section from Zigong to Neijiang North Station, before slowly increasing speed.
