Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, has been experiencing continuous rainfall and flooding since the 3rd, and the city has entered a highly alert state for disaster prevention on the 5th.
According to the Mongolian Emergency Situations Bureau, the Selebo River dam in the southeast of Ulaanbaatar was destroyed by floods on the 5th, and at least 27 residential buildings and hundreds of motor vehicles in the surrounding area were flooded. Other areas of Ulaanbaatar city have also suffered varying degrees of flooding.
Ulaanbaatar Mayor Sumiyabazar demanded on the 5th that relevant departments close roads in severely affected areas to ensure the safety of citizens' lives and property. Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden requested at a government meeting that the General Administration of Emergency Situations take emergency measures to fully ensure the safety of the people.
According to the meteorological department of Mongolia, the temperature in Ulaanbaatar since July has been lower than the average temperature in previous years, and the 4-day precipitation has broken the precipitation record for the same period in the past 60 years.
