Volunteer Talat from a hospital in Entuman City: Today, a shell fell into a house next to the Alanau Hospital, causing two people inside the house to be injured, a mother and her daughter. We took the injured to the hospital, but the hospital was closed. We had to search for a doctor through social media. We found a doctor, but unfortunately, our mother passed away and only our daughter was saved.
According to United Nations statistics, the armed conflict in Sudan has caused 4.25 million people to be displaced, of which approximately 970000 have fled to neighboring countries for refuge. Currently, 20.3 million people in Sudan are facing serious food insecurity, accounting for 42% of the country's total population. Among them, 6.3 million people are just one step away from the most severe famine. The United Nations has stated that a total of 24.7 million people in Sudan urgently need humanitarian assistance, but currently, the assistance provided by the United Nations and its partners has only benefited approximately 3 million people.
The medical and health situation in Sudan is also concerning. The World Health Organization recently warned that there are currently 4 million women and children suffering from acute malnutrition in Sudan, and the malnutrition rate in Sudan is expected to rise to 39% in the next six months. At the same time, the risk of large-scale outbreaks of infectious diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, and cholera is constantly increasing.
The Sudanese Ministry of Health stated on the 14th that the armed conflict in Sudan has led to the cessation of services in approximately 200 hospitals nationwide, and millions of people have fled from the capital area to surrounding areas to avoid the war, further increasing the burden on local medical institutions. At present, there is an urgent need to increase the supply of medical supplies to the surrounding areas of the capital. The Minister of Health calls on armed militants to stay away from medical and health facilities and not occupy them for military purposes.
