Outside Kaohsiung Port! Now there are thousands of container crew floating | not | containers
A Palau container ship was submerged in water and tilted off the coast of Kaohsiung Port. Yesterday, 19 crew members on board abandoned the ship and evacuated. According to Taiwanese media reports, the entire ship sank this morning, with over 1300 empty containers carrying on board drifting on the sea, fearing to drift south towards the outer waters of Pingtung.
The local port company stated that the residual low sulfur fuel, light diesel and other oil pollutants on the ship pose a risk of floating and spreading. Currently, oil containment ropes have been set up in the sunken waters.

It is understood that the container ship's hull was submerged and stranded about 2.8 nautical miles offshore from Kaohsiung Port. On the 17th, people witnessed the ship's hull tilting. On the 20th, the captain decided to abandon the ship and 19 crew members were rescued.
According to Taiwanese media, the most important thing at present is to ensure that sunken ships and drifting containers no longer affect the entry and exit of waterways, and to minimize the potential marine pollution caused by oil spills from cargo ships.
