Our Home | Hongyuan, Sichuan: Creating a Characteristic Modern Agricultural Park to Assist Rural Revitalization Yak | Hongyuan County | Hongyuan, Sichuan
"The sky is vast and the wilderness is vast. When the wind blows and the grass is low, cattle and sheep can be seen." In the sunny summer, yaks and Tibetan sheep can be seen leisurely grazing on both sides of the Hongyuan County Highway, making people feel relaxed and happy.
On July 19th, the "Our Home" online themed activity interview team arrived in Hongyuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Hongyuan County is the only pure pastoral county in Aba, and also the birthplace of the main tributary of the Yellow River, the Baihe River.
In recent years, Hongyuan County has been actively accelerating the construction of the "Hongyuan County Yak Modern Agricultural Park" based on the characteristic advantage industry of Maiwa yak. By promoting the use of gardens, demonstrating and driving, actively exploring and practicing experiential models with the characteristics of Hongyuan and pastoral areas, we can effectively promote the greening of grasslands, the efficiency of animal husbandry, and the income of herdsmen.
Walking in the Yak Modern Agricultural Park in Hongyuan County is like being in a fairy tale. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the grassland is boundless, and the scenery is so beautiful that people are intoxicated.
"Our park was built in 2019 and has now formed a complete industrial chain system that integrates high-quality seed breeding, grass planting, standard breeding, deep processing, market sales, and exhibition display," said Wang Chungui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hongyuan County Science and Agriculture Bureau.
The park is led by Maiwa yak as the main industry, with the implementation of the "grass livestock balance system" as the premise, "natural grazing+cold season warmth+supplementary feeding" as the characteristic planting and breeding cycle development model of plateau pastoral areas, and "yak culture" as the leisure tourism of modern agricultural parks. In 2021, it was successfully established as a five-star modern agricultural park in the province. In 2022, the per capita disposable income of farmers and herdsmen in the park reached 31000 yuan.
In the park, tourists can also experience activities such as yak feeding. Wang Chungui introduced that currently, the park is taking the creation and implementation of national level parks as an opportunity to explore a high-quality development model suitable for grassland animal husbandry in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, focusing on creating an agricultural theme park with "deep grassland nomadic experience" as the core, promoting the integrated development of agriculture, tourism, and culture in the first, second, and third industry parks, and building a modern and efficient agricultural industry system with multiple functions.
