Online consultation on legal consequences, evidence of man's rape of multiple women | robbery | consultation
Making friends with women on matchmaking websites and asking them to drink "problematic drinks" during dating, and deceiving them into committing crimes in hotels while the other person is unconscious... Men have committed 8 crimes using the above methods, including 3 robberies, 2 rapes, and 3 forced molestation. On July 6th, the Supreme People's Procuratorate released the 45th batch of guiding cases, including this second instance protest case of robbery, rape, and forced indecent assault.
On June 24, 2016, a young woman named Rong met a man named Li through a matchmaking website, and the two had a very casual conversation. Soon, the two of them arranged to meet near a certain shopping mall.
During the meal, Li accidentally dropped an unidentified substance that could cause coma into Rong's drink while the other person was not paying attention, and then took him to the room of the reserved express hotel. While Rong was sleeping, Li used the fingerprint unlocking function to unlock his phone and stole RMB 4000 from Rong's mobile account. After Rong woke up, he immediately reported the case to the police.
After investigation, the public security organs found that from March to June 2016, Li met multiple women through social media platforms and used the same methods to steal RMB 500 and RMB 1000 from the victims Yu and Chang in the same hotel. On July 13th, Li was arrested and brought to justice. In March 2018, the Heping District Court in Tianjin sentenced the defendant Li to theft and sentenced him to one year and eleven months in prison. The procuratorial organs have filed a protest against this case for believing that the sentencing was inappropriate.
Theft or robbery?
The procuratorial organs use technical means to reinforce evidence, and after retrieving surveillance footage, room opening records, and mobile phone videos, they have uncovered several major criminal facts related to Li, including rape, robbery, and forced indecency. His methods of committing the crime are the same: establishing contact with the victim through dating websites, and then placing psychiatric drugs into the victim's drink while inviting them out to eat or watch a movie. When the victim is in a daze, take them to a pre booked hotel to commit the crime.
At the same time, by cracking Li's encrypted electronic device, investigators discovered that there were a large number of indecent photos and videos of women, and the women in the picture appeared to be somewhat confused, making it impossible for them to actively transfer money to Li.
In addition, Li's mobile phone search browsing records confirm that he has repeatedly searched for information such as "suspecting that there is no evidence to report being drugged", "Is there surveillance on the 5th floor of a certain fashion square and cinema", and "What is a woman's behavior when drugged". After the crime, in order to avoid legal sanctions, Mr. Li also used the name of the victim to consult lawyers online about the legal consequences of "Alipay transfer without consent".
Therefore, the procuratorial organs have determined that this is a premeditated crime specifically targeting women.
In May 2019, the First Branch of the Tianjin Procuratorate filed a protest against the case of robbery, rape, and forced molestation, and ultimately determined that Li had 3 cases of robbery, 2 cases of rape, and 3 cases of forced molestation, totaling 8 cases. On December 20, 2019, the court ultimately sentenced Li to 20 years in prison, deprivation of political rights for four years, and a fine of RMB 200000 for several crimes including robbery, rape, and forced indecency.
