Usama Rabiyah, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority in Egypt, said on the 5th that a tugboat sank after colliding with an oil tanker on the Suez Canal that day, resulting in the death of one crew member on the tugboat and the rescue of six others.
The Suez Canal Authority issued a statement stating that after the accident, the authorities dispatched rescue teams to rescue the seven crew members on the tugboat and salvage the sunken ship. At present, the 6 rescued crew members have been sent to nearby hospitals, and their health conditions are stable.
The statement stated that the involved oil tanker departed from Singapore and planned to sail to the United States, currently anchored at Port Said in Egypt.
