According to the official WeChat official account of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, on the afternoon of June 2, the ceremony of Wu Jingyu, the Olympic champion, Vice President of China Taekwondo Association and Executive Committee member of the Chinese Olympic Committee, being appointed as a guest professor of Jingdezhen Ceramic University was held in the International Academic Hall of Xianghu Campus of the university. Li Liangzhi, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Feng Hao, Member of the School Party Committee and Vice President, as well as heads of colleges and departments such as the Party Committee Office, Personnel Department, Sports and Military Teaching Department, as well as representatives of teachers and students, participated in this event. The appointment ceremony is presided over by Feng Hao.
At the ceremony, Li Liangzhi, the Secretary of the School Party Committee, presented Wu Jingyu with a letter of appointment as a visiting professor and wore the school emblem. Li Liangzhi represents the school in accepting Taekwondo uniforms gifted by Wu Jingyu.
Public information shows that Wu Jingyu began competing in international competitions at the 2004 World Taekwondo Youth Championships and temporarily ended her athletic career after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. During her service, she represented China and won multiple championships at the World Youth Championships, World University Games, Asian Games, Grand Prix Finals, World Cup, World Championships, and Olympic Games. She is the first Taekwondo athlete in the history of the world to achieve a "Grand Slam".
After winning the WTF Grand Prix in Bulgaria in 2019, she became the first "mother level" Grand Prix champion in the history of the WTF. After the Tokyo Olympics, Dr. Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee, praised her in an interview, saying, "Wu Jingyu is a great athlete and an excellent mother.".
