Not just pandas and hot pot, "Foreigner Information Station" serves the Universiade: Chengdu Program | Information | Universiade
Open the WeChat mini program "ChengduExport+" on your phone and search for the keyword "FISU World University Games". Rich English event information, ticket purchase information, countdown, and more will appear on the screen. In addition, the mini program also provides a lot of practical English information about Chengdu, such as activities, attractions, restaurants, etc.
Dieter Fanuclen, a Belgian, is the founder of "ChengduExpat+". He told reporters that the 31st Chengdu Summer Universiade is about to be held, and thousands of college athletes from all over the world will come here. "Many of them are visiting China and Chengdu for the first time, so 'ChengduExpat+' has done a lot of targeted work in content production.".
Farnonchlan introduced to reporters the "We Media Cluster" he created - in addition to WeChat applet, there are WeChat official account, community website and short video platform account, etc. At present, more than 50000 followers have "unlocked" local life in Chengdu through his published information.
Fanon Keren realized in his youth that China's future is full of opportunities. He studied Chinese at the University of Leuven in Belgium in his early years, and after graduation, he went to China to continue his studies, ultimately choosing to settle in Chengdu. "I did a lot of things in Chengdu and also messed up a lot of things," said Fanon Karen jokingly. After numerous entrepreneurial attempts, he now operates not only his own "self media cluster", but also a foreign trade company and a beer bar in Chengdu.

Fanong Keren admitted that operating an information platform may not bring substantial profits, but it is the most accomplished thing he has done in the past decade in Chengdu. "Nine year old" ChengduExpat+"grew up like his own child, not only providing food, drink, and entertainment information for foreigners in Chengdu, but also developing into a community to make friends and help others. His team has helped many newly arrived foreigners solve life problems.
Fanon Karen's self media account has also become a window for China Unicom both domestically and internationally, with a considerable proportion of its fans being Chinese - according to backend data, more than half of its followers use Chinese. This is closely related to the active international economic and trade activities of Chengdu, a southwestern metropolis. On Fanon Karen's short video platform account, a photo of him and his father in front of the warehouse in his hometown attracted many Chinese netizens to inquire about the cooperation of Belgian foreign trade commodity warehousing.
"In Chengdu, foreigners are not only interested in pandas and hot pot, but everyone has their own Chengdu in their eyes. I think the most beautiful thing here is the common people, who are kind and friendly," said Fanon Karen. The Chengdu Universiade is about to open, and he hopes that the "Foreigner Information Station" he has built can introduce this beautiful city to the world, allowing college athletes from around the world to experience "authentic Chengdu".
