According to reports, North Korea launched the new solid fuel intercontinental ballistic missile "Mars Cannon-18" on April 13th, marking the second launch of the missile after 63 days.
Before launching the missile, North Korea issued a "warning position" through official media in the name of a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, protesting against South Korea and the United States conducting joint coordinated firepower annihilation training. North Korea claims that its military force will completely respond to any form of demonstration and provocation by the enemy.
According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol presided over the "2023 South Korea US Joint Firepower Destruction Training" at the Shengjin Scientific Training Ground in Bachuan City, Gyeonggi Province on the afternoon of the 15th. On May 25th, South Korea and the United States launched this national level exercise, aimed at commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the South Korean military and the 70th anniversary of the South Korean US alliance, with the largest scale in history. Including the South Korean F-35A stealth fighter, K9 self-propelled artillery, US F-16 fighter jets, and the Grey Eagle drone, more than 610 units of equipment and over 2500 officers and soldiers from 71 units participated in the training.
