Since its trial operation in February this year, the Jehra Provincial Branch of the Kuwait Medical Insurance Hospital project has been operating normally, laying the foundation for the formal operation of the hospital. "Kuwait's medical insurance hospital is a truly beneficial project for the people, which is conducive to promoting urban development and enhancing people's well-being." Fawoz Bahar, editor in chief of Kuwait's "Arab" newspaper, said, "Chinese enterprises have efficiently and high-quality completed this project, which is a new witness to deepening practical cooperation between science and China."
Kuwait Medical Insurance Hospital is a large-scale comprehensive hospital project in Kuwait that specializes in providing medical insurance services to foreign nationals. It is constructed by China Metallurgical Science and Industry Corporation Limited and includes the design, construction, and maintenance of two hospitals located in Ahmadi Province and Jehra Province, respectively. The Ahmadi Provincial Branch was put into trial operation in December last year. Each hospital includes a main building and a parking lot, with several departments including internal medicine, pediatrics, and infectious diseases. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Kuwait, the foreign population in Kuwait was nearly 2.8 million in 2022, making it the main source of labor in the country. The total construction area of the medical insurance hospital project is about 85000 square meters, with a project amount of about 500 million US dollars. It is one of the first hospitals built under Kuwait's "2035 National Vision", which will help improve basic medical security conditions in Kuwait.
At the outpatient pharmacy department of the Ahmadi Provincial Branch Hospital, the project leader of Kuwait Medical Insurance Hospital, Ruan Jing, told reporters that this is an intelligent pharmacy. After the doctor prescribes, the information system immediately transmits the drug information to the drug delivery system. There are 8 machine arms about 7 meters long in the pharmacy, one end extending towards the medication counter and the other end connected to the fast dispensing machine in the pharmacy. After receiving the transmission command, the medicine tank in the intelligent pharmacy starts to operate automatically, delivering the corresponding medicine to the slide, and then being sent to the medicine dispensing table by the robotic arm. "Through digital means, we have transformed the hospital into a smart hospital that includes various application scenarios such as intelligent pharmacies and intelligent logistics systems, greatly saving patients' waiting time and improving hospital work efficiency." Ruan Jing said that such a highly automated medication retrieval scene will become the norm in medical insurance hospitals in Kuwait.

The reporter learned that during the construction process, the project team fully utilized digital technology and guided the entire construction and operation process through building information modeling technology. By clicking on the model, the complex distribution and direction of pipelines, layout of various components, and material information in the building can be clearly seen at a glance. "We use building information modeling technology for scheme simulation in our design, and further improve the accuracy of the model during the deepening stage, ultimately converting it into a plan to guide on-site construction." Jiang Li, the project management manager of MCC Middle East Branch, said that building information modeling technology is like the "brain" guiding on-site construction, which can strengthen management, precision construction, optimize resource allocation, and improve work efficiency.
"Chinese enterprises have a high level of digital technology application, making the construction and operation process more refined and transparent, which is of great significance for the intelligent development of hospitals," commented Ismail, the project manager of Kefang. Muthrig Sani, Chairman of Kuwait Medical Insurance Hospital, stated that Chinese companies play a positive role in improving local diagnosis and treatment levels. The two hospitals will also serve as designated locations for medical and health training throughout Kuwait.
29 year old nurse Amani previously worked at a hospital in Jordan. After a strict recruitment process, she successfully joined the Ahmadi Provincial Branch and became a nurse in the obstetrics and gynecology department. "This hospital has a large scale and a high level of modernization. Currently, the preparation work for operation is progressing smoothly. We believe that after the hospital is officially put into use, it will improve the overall medical environment and bring more convenience to patients."
