CCTV News: Heavy rainfall has occurred in many parts of Jilin Province. Yesterday at 19:00, Jilin Province upgraded its level three emergency response for flood and typhoon prevention to level two. Roads in some villages in Shulan City have been blocked, communication has been interrupted, and personnel are trapped. The local quickly organized rescue forces and entered the village to carry out rescue operations.

Affected by floods, some bridges in villages and towns such as Jinma Town, Kaiyuan Town, and Qili Township in Shulan City collapsed. On the afternoon of August 5th, the water level in the affected villages had significantly decreased. Through disaster investigation and preliminary statistics, over 130000 people were affected. A rescue team of nearly a thousand people was organized locally to rush to the affected villages to search and relocate the affected people. More than 1900 daily necessities were transported by helicopter to the trapped villages.

At present, Shulan City has set up 21 temporary resettlement sites for the affected population and provided adequate support for daily necessities. In addition, road construction and power restoration are also ongoing. As of the evening of August 5th, power supply has been restored to 6535 households and 13 communication villages have been restored.

Affected by consecutive days of rainfall, relevant departments predict that a catastrophic flood will occur in the Lalin River basin of Yushu City, posing a threat to nearly 40000 people and nearly 4000 hectares of crops in 8 towns along the coast. Various departments in Yushu City have taken early action to continue patrolling embankments and inspecting areas such as rivers, reservoirs, and ponds, and to organize the relocation and evacuation of people from villages and villages at risk. As of the time of press release, 18941 people from 31 villages and 8 townships in Yushu City have been safely transferred.
