National Flood Control Administration: Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Zone will be put into operation at 2:00 am on August 1st, along the Daqing River | Flood Storage and Detention Zone | put into operation
The reporter learned from the Tianjin Water Bureau that on July 31st, the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued a notice that according to flood forecasts, the flow of newly built buildings in the upper reaches of the Daqing River in the Haihe River Basin has increased, and the water level of the Daqing River has continued to rise. The Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Area of the Daqing River has reached the conditions for use, and it has been decided to start using the Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Area from 2am on August 1st.
The Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Area is located on both sides of the Daqing River at the border of Hebei Province and Tianjin. It mainly involves Hebei Province and Jinghai District and Xiqing District of Tianjin City, with a total area of 379 square kilometers, including 100 square kilometers within Tianjin City. According to the plan for the use of flood storage and detention areas, the northern part of the Daqing River in the Dongdian flood storage and detention area will be put into use at 2am on August 1st. After the Daqing River flood enters the Hebei Province part of the Dongdian flood storage and detention area, it is expected to reach Tianjin before or after August 9th through flood diversion and deceleration.
It is reported that the Jinghai and Xiqing districts of Tianjin are currently urgently carrying out preparations for the opening of the Dongdian flood storage and detention area, including personnel transfer, emergency clearance, and embankment defense, to ensure that all residents should evacuate before the flood reaches Tianjin. The Tianjin Water Bureau has arranged personnel to work with the local government to inspect and eliminate risks on the outer embankments of the Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Area and along the Daqing River, in preparation for the opening of the flood storage and detention area.
