National Development and Reform Commission: The production, sales, and ownership of new energy vehicles in China have both reached historic highs
The National Development and Reform Commission held a special press conference today to introduce the promotion of consumption of automobiles and electronic products. Huo Fupeng, Deputy Director of the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that in the first half of this year, China's automobile production and sales increased rapidly, with new energy vehicles reaching historic highs in terms of production and sales, market share, and ownership.
In terms of production and sales, in the first half of the year, the production and sales of automobiles reached 13.248 million and 13.239 million respectively, with year-on-year growth of 9.3% and 9.8%, respectively. Among them, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.788 million and 3.747 million respectively, with year-on-year growth of 42.4% and 44.1%. From the perspective of market share, the proportion of new energy vehicle sales to total vehicle sales has reached 28.3%, an increase of 2.7 percentage points from 2022. From the perspective of ownership, as of the end of June this year, the total number of new energy vehicles in China exceeded 16.2 million. The production and sales volume, market share, and ownership of new energy vehicles have all reached historic highs.
Huo Fupeng, Deputy Director of the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission: The range and safety performance of new energy vehicles are constantly improving, and technologies such as intelligent cabins and assisted driving are accelerating their application. The level of product intelligence is constantly improving. In the first half of this year, 1.442 million new charging stations were built nationwide, including 351000 public charging stations, further improving the convenience of energy replenishment for new energy vehicles.
Recently, the Central Political Bureau meeting proposed to consolidate and expand the development advantages of new energy vehicles. The State Council executive meeting made important arrangements for the development of the new energy vehicle industry. The General Office of the State Council and relevant departments successively issued documents such as the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of Charging Infrastructure to Better Support the Rural Revitalization of New Energy Vehicles and the Guiding Opinions on Further Building a High Quality Charging Infrastructure System, and issued policies to continue and optimize the reduction and exemption of purchase tax on new energy vehicle vehicles, creating a good policy and market environment for the consumption of new energy vehicles.
