National Cutural Heritage Administration: This year, we will strive for the history of applying for the World Heritage of "Pu'er Scenery, Maishan Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape" | Chinese Civilization | Tea Forest
At 10 o'clock this morning, the State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on "Opening remarks from authoritative departments" to introduce the relevant situation of "strengthening the protection and inheritance of cultural relics of Chinese civilization". At the meeting, Li Qun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Director of the National Cutural Heritage Administration, said that the declaration of world cultural heritage should be comprehensively promoted, which mainly includes three aspects:
One is in the application for world cultural heritage. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, eight items have been successfully included in the World Cultural Heritage List, including the "Liangzhu Ancient City Site", "Gulangyu: Historical International Community", and "Quanzhou: World Marine Trade Center of Song and Yuan China". The "Liangzhu Ancient City Site" demonstrates the over 5000 year history of Chinese civilization, while "Gulangyu: Historical International Community" showcases the history of cultural exchange and integration between China and foreign countries, as well as the profound and resilient foundation of Chinese civilization. Quanzhou: The World Marine Trade Center of China during the Song and Yuan Dynasties witnessed the important position of China in ancient world marine trade activities. A few years ago, it also successfully applied for the World Heritage List, "the Silk Road: the road network of Chang'an Tianshan Corridor", which shows the history of exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese civilization and other civilizations, and also implements the important initiative of jointly building the "the Belt and Road" initiative. This decade has achieved very obvious results in the successful inclusion in the The World Heritage List.
The second aspect is in the protection of world cultural heritage. The National Cutural Heritage Administration urges and guides all regions to earnestly fulfill their obligations under the World Heritage Convention and improve the level of protection and display. This year, the National Cutural Heritage Administration has successively organized and held national conferences on the protection of cultural relics of the Grand Canal and the Great Wall, and systematically deployed short-term tasks. Various regions have initiated the restoration, exhibition, and interpretation of a number of world cultural heritage sites, such as the Mogao Grottoes, the Great Wall, and the Grand Canal. The monitoring and early warning of world heritage sites have also been strengthened, exploring a system of systematic protection, scientific management, and comprehensive display.
Thirdly, in terms of international exchange and cooperation on world cultural heritage. The National Cutural Heritage Administration has strengthened cooperation with Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries, guided Hong Kong and other places to join the Alliance of Cities Applying for World Heritage along the Maritime Silk Road, and actively promoted the joint application of countries along the Maritime Silk Road. Last year, the National Cutural Heritage Administration and the Cultural Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region jointly held the "International Cultural Forum on the Maritime Silk Road" to promote cultural exchanges among countries along the route and expand the influence of the application for World Heritage of the Maritime Silk Road. At the same time, the National Cutural Heritage Administration has also actively participated in the construction of the international governance system and governance capacity of the world cultural heritage. In major issues such as climate change and heritage protection, the revision of the operational guidelines of the World Heritage Convention, it has also issued a Chinese voice and adhered to the country's cultural interests.
Next, the National Cutural Heritage Administration will continue to do a good job in the declaration of world cultural heritage. This year, we will make every effort to apply for the World Heritage Site of "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape". The application site is located in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, and we are currently making full preparations; Collaborate with Beijing to carry out various tasks related to the application and protection of the "Beijing Central Axis" as a World Heritage Site. At the same time, it is necessary to update the preliminary list of China's world cultural heritage, further build a Chinese civilization identification system that demonstrates Chinese civilization and the spirit of the Chinese nation, and showcases ancient and modern China.
