My embassy in the Philippines confirms that the accident does not involve Chinese citizens
According to Philippine media reports on the 27th, the head of the disaster reduction office in Binan Onan Township, Rizal Province, stated that at least 27 people have died and 40 have been rescued from the capsizing accident that occurred in the afternoon of that day. Due to the current zero visibility, the search and rescue operation has been suspended.
Previously, the Philippine Coast Guard stated that preliminary reports showed 30 deaths, but the specific situation needs further confirmation.
In addition, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines stated that after questioning the local police station in Rizal Province responsible for the rescue operation, Chinese citizens were not involved in the accident.
At around 13:00 local time on the 27th, a ship departed from the town of Binan Aonan in the province of Lhasa and headed for Talim Island located in the inner lake. Due to encountering strong winds, passengers on board panicked and gathered on one side of the ship, causing it to capsize.
