According to the information released by the Central Seismological Bureau of France, the earthquake occurred at 18:38 local time, with the epicenter located 26 kilometers southwest of the city of Neuer in the Des é vres department.
French Minister of Ecological Transformation and Land Coordination, Christopher B é ch, posted on social media that this is one of the strongest earthquakes recorded on French soil, causing one minor injury and multiple damaged houses in the western region.
The southwestern coastal province of Charente issued a statement stating that the earthquake caused power outages to 1100 households, damage to a high-voltage line, and cracks in some buildings.
