More than half of Americans support a pardon for Trump after conviction. Experts: Highlighting the handling of political divisions among the American people | Confidential documents | Politics
Former US President Trump
On June 19th, according to a report on the website of the U.S. Capitol Hill, a survey released the day before showed that more than half of Americans believe that if former U.S. President Trump is convicted and imprisoned on suspicion of mishandling confidential documents, he should be pardoned. Experts say this indicates a significant partisan divide in American public opinion in politics.
This poll was conducted by the Harvard Center for American Political Studies, Harris Poll, and Harris X from June 14th to 15th among 2090 registered voters. The poll results show that 53% of the surveyed voters believe that Trump should be pardoned "for the sake of national unity". Meanwhile, regarding whether Trump should appear in next year's election, 51% of Americans said that regardless of whether he is convicted or not, he should withdraw from the election on charges.

"There is still a 50 to 50 split in politics among the American people, but 100% of the population is dissatisfied with the direction chosen by the country, economy, and political leaders," said Mark Payne, co director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll. "Despite reaching a debt ceiling agreement between the two parties and the stock market recovering, the relevant bill has not been approved."
