On July 17th local time, multiple ships were dispatched from Sihanouk Province, Cambodia to safely evacuate over 700 tourists from the island to land.
According to the Cambodian media "Khmer Times", the aforementioned tourists were forced to stay on the islands of Gaolong and Gaolong Salem in Sihanouk Province due to bad weather, including multiple women and children.
The authorities dispatched 5 ships for emergency rescue operations on the 17th. On the same day, the Governor of Sihanouk Province led provincial government officials to welcome 708 domestic and foreign tourists who had safely transferred at the dock.
Previously, due to the potential danger caused by wind, rain, and waves, the authorities of Sihanouk Province announced a suspension of tourist transportation and fishing operations to the island. The Cambodian Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has also issued a notice urging tourists and fishermen not to take risks going out to sea in the near future.
The Cambodian Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has pointed out that Typhoon Tai Li, the fourth typhoon of this year, will make landfall in the areas of Quang Ning Province and Haiphong City in Vietnam on July 18th. Affected by the typhoon, Cambodia's coastal areas will experience strong winds and heavy rainfall from July 16th to 20th, with strong winds and waves on the sea surface.
