More than 300 Warring States period tombs have been excavated, and more than 1300 cultural relics have been discovered in the Shanxi National Highway Relocation Project
On the 26th, China Communications Group held a "Jiaozhu Road Connecting Ancient and Modern" media open day event at the construction site of the 108 National Highway in Linfen, Shanxi. At the Xuezhuang Cultural Relics Excavation Site and 1 # Beam Field, the event aimed to explore the stories behind the excavation of cultural relics and the specific measures taken by the project builders in terms of cultural relic protection.
Xiangfen Quwo Houma Transit Diversion Project of National Highway 108 is a key project in Shanxi Province. The main construction body is Linfen Municipal People's Government, Linfen Highway Branch is the implementation agency, and CCCC First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. is the winning social investor. The project is constructed in PPP mode, with a total length of about 67.7 kilometers. It is constructed in the standard of two-way four lane first-class highway, with 19 large and medium-sized bridges, 7 interchanges, and 1 toll station.
The project is located in Shanxi Province, which ranks first in the country in terms of the number of key cultural relics protection units, with numerous above ground and underground cultural relics. While upgrading and expanding the construction of National Highway 108, it is also particularly important to do a good job in protecting cultural relics.
Tian Jianwen, a researcher at the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, stated that before the construction of the project, archaeology was pre positioned, avoiding key cultural relics protection areas such as Taosi, Dingcun, and Houma Jin State Site. As of now, more than 300 early and mid Warring States period tombs have been excavated at the Xuezhuang cultural relics excavation site.
The relevant person in charge of China Communications Group stated that during the construction process, the project team immediately invited local cultural heritage units to conduct on-site inspections, develop plans, and quickly open up more than 20 excavation access roads. At the same time, fences and rain shelters are being erected at the excavation site, and dedicated personnel are being arranged to monitor remote monitoring equipment to fully protect the historical context.
It is reported that a total of more than 1300 cultural relics excavation sites related to the Zhou, Han, Ming, Qing and other dynasties have been discovered along the entire Linfen National Highway 108 renovation project in Shanxi. 1857 pieces of various artifacts such as bronze, pottery, and porcelain have been unearthed.
In addition to the many cultural relics left behind, the National Highway 108 project also needs to overcome difficulties such as multiple environmentally sensitive points, multiple railway intersections, difficulties in traffic guidance and renovation, difficulties in land acquisition and demolition, difficulties in coordinating land entry, and difficulties in ensuring material supply. Among them, the design route intersects with the existing railway four times, with three times using the swivel T-shaped upper span construction and one time using the underpass construction, which are the key and difficult points of the project construction.
After the completion of the project, it will greatly reduce the traffic pressure in the southern area of Linfen, Shanxi, further enhance the traffic capacity along the line, and have important significance for improving the urban environment, expanding urban development space, and enhancing social and economic benefits.
