Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Urge the US to stop arbitrary detention and illegal prosecution of Chinese enterprises and citizens against the US | China | enterprises
On July 10th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.
A reporter asked, and we noticed that the US State Council has issued a travel reminder to China, stating that China is expanding its security review of foreign citizens and enterprises, and there are entry and exit bans and erroneous detention. What is China's comment on this?
Mao Ning's data chart shows that China is a country under the rule of law, and the decision of relevant departments to conduct security reviews of foreign enterprises in accordance with the law is based on law and facts. China welcomes citizens and enterprises from all countries to travel and do business in China, and guarantees their safety and legitimate rights and interests in China in accordance with the law, including freedom of entry and exit.

"In recent years, when it comes to entry censorship and wrongful detention, the United States has used various excuses to set obstacles and harass Chinese citizens entering the United States for investigation. Chinese students studying in the United States are often denied entry and repatriated." Mao Ning pointed out that in 2021, the United States denied visas to at least 2000 Chinese students studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. From January to October last year, the number of visas for Chinese students studying in the United States decreased by 38% year-on-year. Recently, the US has maliciously smeared China's pursuit of fugitives and stolen goods, resorting to judicial means to prosecute and detain Chinese citizens and Chinese residents in the US. They have also shifted blame and resorted to law enforcement on the fentanyl issue, and have abducted Chinese citizens across borders, suing Chinese entities and individuals.
Mao Ning emphasized that we urge the United States to correct its erroneous practices as soon as possible, stop interfering with practical cooperation between China and the United States in various fields, and at the same time stop arbitrary detention and illegal prosecution of Chinese enterprises and citizens, effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens in the United States.
