Ministry of Education: Ensure that primary and secondary school students have 1 hour of physical activity time on and off campus each day
On September 1st, the reporter learned from the Ministry of Education that the General Office of the Ministry of Education recently issued a notice on launching the 7th National Myopia Prevention and Control Propaganda and Education Month, deciding to launch the 7th National Myopia Prevention and Control Propaganda and Education Month in September 2023. The notice requires that primary and secondary schools in various regions ensure that students have 1 hour of physical activity time on and off campus each day, and encourage eligible school students to engage in outdoor activities on campus for up to 2 hours.
According to the notice, primary and secondary schools should scientifically and reasonably allocate the duration of using electronic products for teaching, strictly control the total amount of written homework, ensure the daily sleep time of primary and secondary school students, and guide students to move out of the classroom and have a distant view during breaks. Kindergartens ensure that children have at least 2 hours of outdoor activities per day, and boarding kindergartens have no less than 3 hours of outdoor activities, including no less than 1 hour of physical activity time.
The notice requires that kindergartens be regarded as the "first gateway" for myopia prevention and control, and the incidence of myopia in young children and lower grades of primary school should be controlled. Promote parents to fulfill their responsibilities in myopia prevention and control, lead by example, jointly control screen time, increase outdoor activities, and create a family atmosphere of eye care.
