Minister of Finance Liu Kun Attends G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting | Global | G20
On July 17-18, 2023, the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors was held in Gandhinagar, India. The conference mainly discussed topics such as global economy, global health, sustainable finance, infrastructure, international financial architecture, and international taxation. After the meeting, the Chairman's summary and outcome document will be released. Minister of Finance Liu Kun attended the meeting and delivered a speech, accompanied by Vice Minister of Finance Wang Dongwei.
Liu Kun pointed out that common development among countries is the true development, and the G20 should promote more inclusive, inclusive, and resilient global development. Building an open world economy, maintaining stable and smooth global supply chains, adhering to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, seeking solutions to meet the climate funding needs of developing countries, and helping to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as scheduled.
Liu Kun emphasized that the G20 should promote multi-channel mobilization for development financing. To objectively analyze the causes of the debt problem of fragile countries, development is the fundamental solution to the debt problem, and to promote multilateral creditors to participate in debt treatment according to the principle of "joint action and fair burden", effectively, systematically, and comprehensively solve the debt problem. We should innovate financing methods for infrastructure, truly expand funding sources, and increase funding scale. Multilateral development banks should always adhere to the core purpose of poverty reduction and development, mobilize new and additional preferential resources, and timely discuss capital increase issues, enhance their own financial strength, and better help developing countries cope with short-term crises and achieve sustainable development.
Liu Kun stated that China will uphold a pragmatic and open attitude, actively participate in the work related to the dual pillar plan to address the challenges of economic digital taxation, support the international community's efforts to improve tax transparency, and promote the joint construction of a fair and sustainable modern international tax system.
During the meeting, Liu Kun met with South Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Qiu Qinghao, Indian Finance Minister Sitaraman, Australian Treasury Minister Charles, Nepalese Finance Minister Mahat, World Bank President Peng Anjie, and International Monetary Fund President Georgieva.
