On the morning of July 9th, during the peak period of tourists descending the mountain, a conflict occurred among tourists from outside Jiangxi Province due to queuing in the Wugong Mountain Scenic Area in Pingxiang, Jiangxi. According to the on-site monitoring footage of the scenic area, at 10:30 am, there were multiple tourists fighting at the queue of the cableway in the scenic area. The scenic area staff, Fu Yong, immediately reported to the police and provided guidance, evacuation, and mediation. At around 10:35, both tourists involved were taken away from the scene separately by the scenic area staff for calm handling, and then handed over to the Matian Town Police Station for mediation and handling.

A reporter from China Tourism News learned that the two groups of tourists involved in the conflict were a total of 17 people, not students, who fought against each other due to personal reasons, causing riots at the scene.
After the incident, the Wugong Mountain Scenic Area in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province immediately established a special task force for handling the incident. The special team investigated and verified the cause and process of the incident by reviewing the video surveillance footage of the scenic area and asking witnesses on site. They also arranged for scenic area staff to accompany and advise tourists from both parties involved throughout the incident, participate in the handling of the incident, and provide timely humanistic care to tourists.
