Malaysian think tank expert: The 15th BRICS Leaders Meeting is a milestone for BRICS | International | Countries
Kuala Lumpur, August 28 (Xinhua) - Xu Qingqi, Chairman of Malaysia's New Asia Strategic Research Center, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that the 15th meeting of BRICS leaders is of milestone significance. Developing countries hope to see a more fair and reasonable international order, and believe that more countries will join the BRICS cooperation mechanism in the future.
Xu Qingqi said that the BRICS cooperation mechanism is not intended to replace the existing international order, but rather to reform the unreasonable and unfair aspects of the international order through collective efforts. Of course, this cannot be achieved overnight, and it will take time.
He said that nowadays, many countries have realized that the United States implements "long arm jurisdiction" on a global scale in order to maintain its geopolitical interests. The United States has lost its international credibility.
Xu Qingqi said that China has embarked on a path of modernization that suits itself. China advocates building a community with a shared future for mankind, emphasizing openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and common development, all of which are in line with the needs of developing countries.
He said that technological innovation knows no borders, and its ultimate goal should be to serve all humanity. Some countries should not use national security as an excuse to suppress and contain the technological development of other countries. A divided technological world is not conducive to global interests.
