Maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and the region!, Wang Yi Meets with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Chen Liuguang: Oppose the Intervening Role of Extraterritorial Forces | China Vietnam | Forces
On August 16, 2023, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with Vietnamese Vice Premier Chen Liuguang, who came to China to participate in the China South Asia Expo, at Kunming.
Both sides should prepare for high-level exchanges in the next stage, further deepen strategic mutual trust, jointly maintain political and institutional security, and jointly uphold the Party's ideals, beliefs, and socialist direction. As the co chairs of the China Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee, we need to further leverage the role of cooperation mechanisms, coordinate and promote cooperation in various fields, and continuously advance China Vietnam relations towards the goal of building a community with a shared future between China and Vietnam.
Wang Yi stated that China firmly supports ASEAN unity and its central position in regional cooperation. It will work with ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, to uphold the spirit of friendly consultation and mutually beneficial cooperation, oppose external forces instigating interference, and maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and the region. We look forward to achieving positive results in the series of East Asian Cooperation Leaders' Meetings through the joint efforts of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.
Chen Liuguang stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both parties and countries, Vietnam China relations have steadily developed, friendly cooperation has reached new heights, and new opportunities have emerged. China's importance and particularity towards Vietnam are unparalleled, and it is the only country that combines all the priority directions of Vietnam's diplomacy. Developing relations with China has always been the top priority of Vietnam's foreign policy. Vietnam values peace, cherishes and sincerely thanks Chinese comrades for their selfless assistance to Vietnam's independence and development. Vietnam opposes and is wary of foreign interference, and will strengthen high-level exchanges with China and deepen practical cooperation in various fields. I am pleased to serve as the Chairman of the Vietnam China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee and look forward to establishing good relations with China and holding good steering committee meetings. Willing to play its due role in ASEAN, jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea, and achieve common development.
