Luoxingdun reveals the full view again, Poyang Lake hovers around the dry line in hot weather | water level | Poyang Lake
Nanchang, August 14th (China News Agency) - In recent days, due to continuous high temperatures, sunny weather, and insufficient upstream water, the water level of China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake, has been hovering around the 12 meter dry line. The "Millennium Stone Island" Luoxingdun has once again revealed its full view, and Poyang Lake has returned to a grassland scene.
Real time hydrological information in Jiangxi Province shows that as of 10:00 on August 14th, the water level at Xingzi Station, a landmark hydrological station in Poyang Lake, was 12.15 meters, hovering around 12 meters for 30 days. As of 8:00 on the 14th, the water area of Tongjiang in the Poyang Lake area is 1510 square kilometers, with a volume of 3.13 billion cubic meters.
Aerial photos taken on August 11 showed that a large area of grass shoal appeared in Poyang Lake, and birds perched and foraged on the exposed mudflat. The "Millennium Stone Island" Luoxingdun, which stands tall on Poyang Lake, is all exposed to the water. The lake bed on one side is already covered with green meadows, with continuous grass colors. The vast water area seems to be covered with a "green giant carpet".
The reporter learned that since the second half of last year, the water level of Poyang Lake has been consistently low. In early August of this year, the official meteorological forecast in Jiangxi Province was released, stating that the precipitation in August was 10% to 20% less than expected, and the inflow of water from the Yangtze River Basin may be in a normal state of shortage. Considering the current hydrological situation of Poyang Lake, it is expected that the low water state of Poyang Lake will continue and even further develop.
