Lukashenko: The demands of these countries are "baseless and foolish"
According to the report on the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on August 31, President Lukashenko of Belarus said that Poland and the Baltic countries' demands for Wagner Group to withdraw from Belarus were "groundless and stupid".
According to the Belarusian National News Agency on August 31, Lukashenko pointed out that as long as Poland and the Baltic States have "even one foreign soldier" stationed on their territory, they have no right to complain about Wagner's presence in Belarus, "these are baseless and foolish demands.".
Wagner Group founder Prigoren recently died in an air crash. He led Wagner to launch an attempted rebellion in June, and with the mediation of Lukashenko, Wagner transferred some of the combatants to Belarus.
The report states that Poland and its neighboring countries consider Wagner's presence in Belarus to be a security threat. In response, Warsaw has deployed some of its own troops to the border areas with Belarus.
Belarus announced in late July that Wagner fighters have started training Belarusian special forces. Lukashenko believes that his country's military will benefit from the training provided by Wagner.
