Lukashenko: "Never Need to Use" Tactical Nuclear Weapon State | Russia | Lukashenko
According to Reuters, Belarusian President Lukashenko stated on June 30th that he is confident that tactical nuclear weapons deployed by Russia in his country will never be used.
According to reports, both Lukashenko and Russian President Putin have acknowledged that some tactical nuclear weapons have arrived in Belarus, while the remaining tactical nuclear weapons will be deployed before the end of this year.
In his speech celebrating Belarus National Day, Lukashenko said that deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus is "my most steadfast initiative.".
Lukashenko said, "As we move forward, we are increasingly convinced that they must be deployed here, in Belarus, in a reliable place."
Lukashenko said, "I am certain that although they are deployed here, we will never need to use them. No enemy will set foot on our land."
The report points out that, like Russia, Lukashenko has repeatedly accused Western countries of attempting to destroy his country and stated the need to deploy nuclear weapons to deter potential aggressors.
On June 27th, Belarusian news agency reported that Lukashenko said at the senior military officer award ceremony, "Some nuclear weapons have already been transported, and most of them have been sent to Belarus. Surprisingly, this has not been detected. Russians and Belarusians are watching for nuclear weapons."
Lukashenko had previously stated that he would not hesitate to use tactical nuclear weapons if necessary. But he also stated that whether to use these weapons requires consultation with Russia.
