Lukashenko angrily retorted "it's just a joke" about nuclear weapons | Belarus | Lukashenko
According to a report by Russian news agency on June 27th, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus is formulating rules for the use of tactical nuclear weapons in the event of foreign aggression.
According to reports, the Belarusian news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying on the 27th: "Gulevich is here. His own task, as well as that of the Minister and the Chairman of the National Security Council, is to establish rules for the use of this weapon. The basis for this should be that if we are attacked, according to the Russians - if the alliance country is attacked, we should use this weapon in difficult times."
Lukashenko said, "For example, I'm just making an analogy that we can use it with Russia's consent. There will be some boring discussions, such as claims that we will be used, which are all baseless. This is impossible. This is our weapon."
According to the report, he also emphasized that it was he who insisted on deploying Russian tactical nuclear weapons within Belarus, "so no one dares to break in.".
Lukashenko also commented on the comments made by some experts in the media, stating that if attacked, Belarus will not acquire the technology to use these Russian nuclear weapons, which will still be controlled by the Russian Federation. Lukashenko pointed out, "Okay, then let this tactical weapon stay in Russia. When needed, transport an additional 500 kilometers before use. Or take off from Russia by plane." He added, "We don't need waste here. Bring the weapon and leave it there - it's just a joke. For what? For storage? Russians have good storage facilities themselves."
