The 15th meeting of BRICS leaders will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from August 22nd to 24th.This statement has been widely welcomed within South Africa, paving the way for strengthening political unity and strategic cooperation between the two sides.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa. Over the past 25 years, the two countries have formed an increasingly close and mutually beneficial partnership. Nowadays, China is South Africa's largest trading partner, an important source of strategic investment, and a close partner. Both sides are committed to promoting the transformation of the global structure towards a more balanced, peaceful, and just system. China's high-quality economic development provides important opportunities for South Africa to expand commercial exchanges and achieve common prosperity. Having a deep understanding of the Chinese economy will help South African trading companies to enjoy the "golden age" brought about by the miracle of China's economic development.
Since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1998, the relationship between China and South Africa has evolved from bilateral diplomatic interaction to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The flourishing economic and trade exchanges between the two countries, as well as the escalating high-level political dialogue, have laid a solid foundation for long-term cooperation and exchanges between the two sides. South Africa joined the "the Belt and Road" initiative in 2015. Since the establishment of FOCAC in 2000, South Africa has also been an active supporter and participant of the Forum. With strong support from China, South Africa has become the fifth BRICS country. Nowadays, South Africa is closely cooperating with China to promote the construction of multilateralism and a community with a shared future for developing countries.

Many African countries regard the "the Belt and Road" initiative as a "fast track to prosperity". South Africa attaches great importance to the potential of close relations with China through the initiative. Strengthening infrastructure links between South Africa and China through the "the Belt and Road" initiative can pave the way for sustained growth and common prosperity of both sides. Therefore, South Africa actively develops bilateral relations, grasps the "golden age" of China Africa trade, high-level strategic cooperation, and mutual benefit and win-win. The "the Belt and Road" initiative and the framework of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation cover a wide range of areas and are of significant benefit to South Africa and African countries. China Africa relations have a solid foundation, and the prospects for strengthening cooperation and common prosperity are bright, with enormous opportunities.
China's tremendous achievements in modernization and prosperous development have set an example for South Africa's own economic reform and future development. The success of China's modernization construction has pointed the way for the economic development and prosperity of all developing countries, and also provided inspiration, guidance, and impetus for South Africa to overcome the current challenges. China's unprecedented success has provided a roadmap for South Africa to promote economic growth, reduce unemployment and poverty. In this regard, the 2020 2029 ten-year cooperation strategic plan between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa can provide significant opportunities for South Africa to expand economic interaction and build a safe and fair business environment, paving the way for China to make significant investments and trade in South Africa.
The 15th meeting of BRICS leaders is expected to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and South Africa. Working together between the two countries can promote the development of the BRICS agenda towards a more peaceful, harmonious, and just international governance system. The BRICS mechanism is an ideal platform aimed at building a closer community of interests and a community with a shared future. South Africa is willing to closely cooperate with China in the upcoming BRICS summit, promote shared interests, and strengthen unity and cooperation.

We expect the BRICS countries to continue to support the basic principles of international cooperation and oppose hegemonism and power politics. We also look forward to the BRICS countries expanding their membership, strengthening multilateralism, weakening the dominance of the US dollar, and promoting trade and investment within the BRICS countries. China and South Africa will closely cooperate, support each other, and promote the realization of common interests and economic goals.
The common history of anti imperialism and anti colonialism is the foundation of unity and friendship between the two countries. Through high-level exchanges, trade, investment, the the Belt and Road Initiative, the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, BRICS and other international cooperation mechanisms, the diplomatic relations between the two countries have become closer. The profound friendship and deep interaction between China and South Africa indicate that the cooperation between the two countries will usher in a new "golden age" in the next 25 years. Closer interaction between the two sides will greatly help South Africa overcome its current challenges in power generation, employment, and poverty eradication. The comprehensive strategic partnership and friendship between China and Africa are at a good beginning, and the next 25 years will be more fruitful, meaningful, and mutually beneficial.
