Li Jiachao: Using the "Four Musts" to Stimulate the Momentum of Hong Kong's "Revitalization" | Momentum | Li Jiachao
"When we write the character 'Xing', the opening stroke is the character 'Tong' in the middle. Together, we open a new chapter for Hong Kong, which is the grand road to stimulate the momentum of Hong Kong's' Xing '." On the 2nd, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, said at the' Forum on Motivating Hong Kong's' Xing '.
Li Jiachao was invited to attend the symposium on the same day and delivered a speech. When it comes to how to quickly reach the stage of "prosperity" in Hong Kong, he puts forward "four musts":
Firstly, it is necessary to actively align with the national development strategy and integrate into the overall development of the country. The current SAR government has set up a "Steering Group for Integrating into the National Development Situation" headed by the Chief Executive to promote Hong Kong to actively link with the national "14th Five Year Plan", the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the "the Belt and Road" initiative, etc.
Secondly, it is necessary to expand smooth and convenient international connections and contribute to regional and international cooperation. Li Jiachao mentioned that Hong Kong has signed free trade agreements with 20 economies and investment promotion and protection agreements with 31 economies. The SAR government is actively striving to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement as soon as possible.
Thirdly, we must make good use of our discourse power on the international stage and tell the story of Hong Kong well. Li Jiachao said that he led a delegation to visit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates earlier this year, and recently visited Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. During these visits, he emphasized telling the story of Hong Kong's thriving development. The SAR government will strengthen cooperation with more emerging economies and enhance Hong Kong's role as a link between the mainland and the international market.
Fourthly, we must unite and mobilize all energy to fight for Hong Kong, this common home. Li Jiachao stated that Hong Kong has a population of over 7 million, and each citizen is the strongest member of the "Hong Kong team". Each person is a source of driving force for Hong Kong's "prosperity".
This symposium is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Council and seven major chambers of commerce in Hong Kong. About 200 representatives from departments such as commerce, finance, and innovation of the Special Administrative Region government, as well as Hong Kong funded, foreign-funded, Chinese funded enterprises, and chambers of commerce organizations, participated. 14 representatives from relevant departments of the Special Administrative Region government and the business community made exchange speeches at the symposium, and 15 key cooperation projects were signed on site.
