Let the world be impressed by China's recent midsummer diplomatic offensive | China | Diplomacy
June is midsummer. This round of China's midsummer diplomatic offensive has truly impressed the world.
In my personal opinion, this round of attack can be roughly divided into three waves.
The first wave, no doubt, was the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
As we all know, China and the United States have engaged in a series of intense battles this year, which have made the world tremble with fear. So when talking with Antony Blinken, Qin Gang said frankly that at present, China US relations are at the lowest point since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
This kind of lowest point is very dangerous, and it cannot be ruled out that there may be a sudden downturn.
As soon as we have friends, we analyze it. intimidated by China's firm determination to fight and sensing the concerns of the international community, the United States has begun to urgently turn the page from the crisis.
Therefore, we have seen that the US side has lowered its stance in dealing with China recently. Both Biden and Antony Blinken have repeatedly publicly "shouted" that they hope to restart high-level interaction with China, strengthen control and prevent risk from getting out of control.
Therefore, we can see that Antony Blinken finally came, which was his first visit to China as Secretary of State. Moreover, it was not "invited to visit", but "agreed by both sides" that he would come to Beijing.
But overall the conversation was good, honest, in-depth, and constructive. He held talks with Qin Gang and met with Wang Yi.
Chinese leaders clearly told Antony Blinken that China respects the interests of the United States and will not challenge or replace the United States. Similarly, the United States should also respect China and not harm its legitimate rights and interests. Neither party can shape the other according to their own will, let alone deprive the other of their legitimate right to development.
After intense negotiations, China and the United States ultimately reached five consensus points.
Firstly, both sides agree to jointly implement the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting between the two heads of state, effectively manage differences, and promote dialogue, exchange, and cooperation.
The second is that both sides agree to maintain high-level exchanges. Secretary of State Antony Blinken invited State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang to visit the United States. Qin Gang expressed his willingness to visit the United States at the convenience of both sides.
The third is that both sides agree to continue advancing the consultation on the guiding principles of China US relations.
The fourth is that both sides agree to continue advancing the consultation of the Sino US Joint Working Group and resolving specific issues in Sino US relations.
The fifth is that both sides agree to encourage the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, actively explore increasing passenger flights between China and the United States, welcome more students, scholars, and business people from each other's countries to visit each other's countries, and provide support and convenience for this.
Biden was also pleased with such positive progress and immediately stated in Washington, "We are on the right track.".
I believe that the Midsummer Consensus between China and the United States has also brought some relief to the international community. You two elephants, it's better not to fight anymore.
But the key is implementation. We all suffer from severe aesthetic fatigue by saying and doing one thing at a time.
Next, it's time to test the credibility of the United States.
The second wave is the Chinese Premier's visit to Europe, first to Germany and then to France.
Speaking of which, this is Premier Li Qiang's first visit since taking office in March. The first time in life always has a special meaning; The politician's first attempt conveyed an extraordinary message.
Why Germany? Why France?
It's very simple, and it also demonstrates China's special emphasis on Germany and France.
But we don't have to avoid it either. In developing relations with China, Germany and France have their own persistence, but they are also under strong pressure from the United States.
The Chinese Premier is going to discuss cooperation and also to do work.
An interesting detail, according to news reports, is that in Berlin, Germany, the Chinese Premier also held a unique symposium.
Siemens, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Schaeffler, BASF, Covestro, Wacker Chemical, Merck, SAP, Allianz and other German corporate owners participated. According to the proposal of the Chinese Premier, they discussed and exchanged ideas on how to view the current international economic and political situation, how to view China's economic trends, how to view the future prospects of technological development, and how to view the so-called "risk reduction" and "dependence reduction" proposed by some countries.
Some of the words of the Chinese Premier are very meaningful.
He told German entrepreneurs that risk prevention and cooperation are not opposed, non cooperation is the biggest risk, and non development is the biggest insecurity.
He continued: Economic globalization has made the world economy both self reliant and self reliant. The issue of dependence should be viewed dialectically, and we should not artificially exaggerate "dependence" or even equate interdependence with insecurity. For some specific issues, specific analysis is necessary, and all parties can work together through consultation and cooperation to prevent and respond.
What does it mean?
The so-called "risk reduction" and "dependence reduction" are very clear to us, targeting China; But going online on the platform harms the interests of the enterprise and is not in line with the trend of the times.
German entrepreneurs must have a sense of concern in their hearts.
So, during the meeting with Premier Li Qiang, German Chancellor Scholz also made a clear commitment: the German side welcomes China's development and prosperity, opposes any form of decoupling, and reducing risks is not "de Sinicization".
But the key is still implementation.
I believe that the Prime Minister's visit will be a promotion for China Germany, China France, and China Europe relations during this very special midsummer moment.
The third wave is the joint visit of four foreign prime ministers.
Which four people?
Prime Minister Motley of Barbados
Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden
New Zealand Prime Minister Hopkins
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Myung sung.
They will all attend the Summer Davos Forum to be held in Tianjin at the end of June and make an official visit to China.
Among them, both neighboring countries, Mongolia and Vietnam, are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers; There are also Caribbean guests, Barbados, which is an important country in the Caribbean; There are also Western visitors. Although New Zealand is located in Oceania, it belongs to the Western world and is also an Anglo Saxon country, a member of the Five Eyes Alliance.
But it's okay, everyone who comes is a guest.
We don't have to avoid it either. Due to various reasons such as the pandemic, many friends haven't come to China for a long time, and some relationships are a bit unfamiliar.
Now, take a walk and have more meetings to communicate. With the hospitality of Chinese people and the huge charm of the Chinese market, many problems often become problems, and many collaborations can be discussed more often.
Finally, what do you think?
These three waves of diplomatic offensives in midsummer include opening doors to welcome guests, deploying attacks, meeting in sequence, and visiting together
Some, calm and composed; But some of them are full of ups and downs, full of excitement.
What is diplomatic art?
This is the art of diplomacy.
Or as the saying goes, those who make more friends and fewer enemies, unite from top to bottom, how can China be afraid of them?
Even if the United States demands to take sides, I believe there will be a large number of countries that refuse to take sides. Germany will definitely refuse, France will definitely not do it, and many countries will strongly oppose it.
This reminds me of the recent "flower of diplomacy"-when the supreme leader met with Blinken, there was a lotus in the middle of the conference table.
Why is it a lotus?
The Xinhua News Agency reporter explained that it is currently the season when lotus flowers are in full bloom, and "lotus" sounds like "harmony" or "harmony". We look forward to peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation between China and the United States.
Lotus symbolizes peace and cooperation.
This is not only the diplomatic art of the Chinese people, but also their way of dealing with the world. China is not an enemy, but a friend. Treating China as an enemy would only be a nightmare for the enemy.
We need to have this kind of confidence, and we also need this kind of strength, not only hard power, but also soft power. Abuse and intimidation are never battles, it is most important to do one's own thing well.
In midsummer, the lotus leaves in the sky are infinitely blue, and the lotus flowers reflect the sun with a unique red color!
This is China. I should also go to the Old Summer Palace to see the lotus flowers.
