Latest disclosure! US and Russian intelligence officials have called. Report | Director | Senior Official
According to Reuters, Sergei Nareshkin, the Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Agency, revealed on July 12th that he had a phone call with William Burns, the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, at the end of June to discuss "how to deal with the Ukraine issue.".
The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal reported in June that Burns had a phone conversation with Nareshkin, and Burns assured the Kremlin that the United States was not involved in the Wagner incident from June 23rd to 24th.
It is reported that since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Burns and Nareshkin have kept a contact hotline. At present, the direct contact between the United States and Russia is at its lowest level, and the relationship between the two countries has fallen to its lowest point since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
According to the report, TASS quoted Nareshkin as saying that he may have a face-to-face meeting with Burns.
The report pointed out that the last open meeting between Nareshkin and Burns was in November 2022 in Türkiye. US officials stated at the time that Burns warned the Russian side of the consequences of using nuclear weapons during that meeting and raised the issue of Americans detained in Russia.
