On August 8th, the South Korean police and parliamentary affairs office announced that several civil servants in Seoul received a bomb threat email on August 7th, and the police are conducting an investigation. According to Yonhap News Agency on the 8th, it was reported that the email was sent around 0:30 on the 7th. The sender claimed in the email that if the leader of the largest opposition party, Lee Jae ming, is not killed before 3:34 pm on August 9th, a time bomb set up in a library in Seoul will be detonated. This email is sent from a Japanese email account and contains information such as phone number, fax number, etc. It also includes the name of the bomb setting personnel and their affiliation. The sender claimed that the bomb was placed within a range of 334 meters from a library in Seoul, but did not specify which library it was located in. The email also wrote in English, "Important: There are multiple locations in Seoul, especially in the subway where there are bombs, which need to be checked.". The police received the call at around 16:45 on the 7th and dispatched a special forces bomb disposal team to carry out explosive detection work in the Capitol building. The Seoul South Gate Police Station is investigating the sender's IP address.
