It is the return of 5000 years of civilization, Hungarian Prime Minister: China's rise is different from the United States. Orban | China | United States
On July 22nd local time, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban stated that China has experienced rapid development in the past thirty years, breaking the world balance of the United States' dominance after World War II. Major countries, including the United States, must adapt to and accept this new global landscape.
Orban made the above statement at the 32nd Balvanios Summer Camp held in Boyletushnad, Romania. He expresses his views on international affairs at the event every year, and this year he talked about the game between China and the United States, the conflict of values with the European Union, and the economy of Hungary.
According to reports from mainstream news portals such as Index and Budapest Times in Hungary, Orban said that in the nearly 80 years after World War II, the world has been in a state of balance, but with China's rapid rise, this balance is undergoing unprecedented structural changes. He quoted a rumored quote from Napoleon, saying, "When China wakes up, the world will tremble for it.".
He pointed out that China experienced the industrial revolution that the West took only 200 years to complete in just 30 years. Now, in strategic areas such as automotive manufacturing, computers, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, IT, etc., China has surpassed or is becoming a true manufacturing powerhouse. In terms of soft power, Orban said that China is also challenging the "universal values" that the United States is trying to depict, and there are "some reasons" behind this.
"Let us remember that China's rise is different from that of the United States. The United States has risen, and China is the return of 5000 years of civilization." He believed that China has a long-term plan to "make China great again". He cited successful cases such as the "the Belt and Road", the BRICS countries and the Asian Investment Bank, and added that the development resources of these initiatives are several times more than those of all Western countries. "China stands before us dressed in the attire of a superpower," he said, stating that both the current international economic, technological, and military trends are beneficial to Asia and China.
Orban also said that although Washington is not satisfied with this development, as the United States' advantage on the world stage continues to weaken, it will bid farewell to its position as the world's only superpower. In his view, based on recent official exchanges between China and the United States, the United States has "sniffed the danger". He analyzed that there is a potential confrontation between China and the United States, but the escalation of the conflict is not inevitable. "Regardless of the current balance of power, both opposing sides should recognize each other's equality.".
"We can only say that it is time to do something that has never been done before: a great power should accept the fact that there are two suns in the sky, rather than the United States' dominance." He warned that establishing a new balance may take an entire generation, and although Hungary cannot intervene in the competition between great powers, it must also plan its future accordingly.
