The Israeli Ministry of Defense issued a statement on the 9th stating that Israel has successfully completed live fire testing of the David slingshot system for defense against medium range missiles.
The statement stated that the "David slingshot" system successfully intercepted various targets, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and drones, in tests simulating complex scenarios, "proving the system's combat capabilities.".
The David slingshot system was developed in collaboration between Israel and the United States, and is combined with the Arrow missile defense system, which is mainly used to defend against long-range missile threats, the Iron Dome defense system, which is mainly used to intercept short-range rockets and missile attacks, and the Navy version of the Iron Dome, the C-Dome, to form Israel's multi-level missile defense system. The David slingshot system was first used for practical interception during the Israeli military's Operation Shield Arrow in the Gaza Strip in May this year.
