According to the option of "normal ice", multiple coffee brands have more than 20 ice cubes, and even some milk tea brands still have 24 ice cubes after choosing "less ice". Industry insiders have pointed out that most chain coffee or milk tea brands have strict ice to beverage ratios to ensure consistency in their products.

These roast of consumers also resonated with many netizens. Some netizens jokingly said, "Even though they sell ice cubes, they even give you coffee." Some netizens also said that this is the norm in the coffee and milk tea industry, and they need to separately request de icing or less ice, but the taste may be affected.

Luckin Coffee customer service replied to this matter, stating that all drinks are strictly made according to the process and can be marked with de icing. The issue of excessive ice cubes and no de icing options will be recorded and reported to relevant departments.

After this incident attracted attention, the Jiangsu Provincial Consumer Protection Commission also issued a document stating that there is no separate "de icing" option on the ordering page, which artificially increases the transaction communication cost for consumers and intentionally limits their freedom of choice. Merchants should respect consumers' right to independent choice and fair trading, and add ice to cold drinks with moderation.

Both coffee ordering pages only have options for "ice" and "heat", without options for "de ice" or "less ice". In the mini program of Luckin Coffee, there is a prompt that says "to ensure taste, it is not recommended to remove or reduce ice for iced drinks." Finally, for both types of coffee, the reporter selected the default ice option.

When picking up the order, the reporter asked if it was possible to "de ice" or "de ice" the coffee. The staff of Luckin Coffee and Kudi Coffee both informed that the ordering system does not have these two options, but consumers can manually indicate "de icing" or "less ice" in the notes.
