As of now, more than 90000 kilometers of urban greenways have been built nationwide. Among them, according to the plan, 4000 kilometers of greenways should be built in various regions this year, and nearly 3000 kilometers have already started construction.

Urban greenways make life more convenient

Although the weather is quite hot today, walking on the trail, there are shaded green trees above, green grass next to them, and a moat nearby, which feels quite cool. I checked through my phone and found that there are more than ten greenways like this within 5 kilometers, and the surrounding residents have many choices.
Beijing citizens: Especially in this place, there are pedestrian walkways and vehicle lanes. We are very close here, waking up in the morning and taking a walk in the avenue is purely a pleasure.
How to make greenways better serve travel? At the beginning of greenway construction, Beijing focused on integrating greenways with the surrounding areas through planning. Not long ago, the project proposal for a 39 kilometer greenway in Beijing was approved by the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission. This upcoming greenway will connect approximately 320 residential areas, 4 industrial parks, and 7 parks and green spaces along the route.
At present, Beijing has built greenways with a total length of about 821 kilometers, including about 210 kilometers in the central urban area. With the continuous extension of new construction and renovation mileage, greenways are gradually connected into a network, and then connected into patches. More citizens can relax, exercise, travel on them, and enjoy the fresh greenery at their doorstep.

To open up the "microcirculation" between parks and green spaces, and make the city more livable, in the past five years, Jimo has included the construction of new urban greenways as a key financial investment project. Mohe Park is the largest open park in the central urban area of Jimo, aiming to provide citizens with a good "green" experience at their doorstep. Based on the comprehensive improvement project of the Ink River and Longquan River, the local area has simultaneously planned and constructed about 40 kilometers of greenways along the river, ensuring the continuous upgrading of "green welfare".
Wang Yuting from the Municipal and Garden Environmental Sanitation Service Center in Jimo District, Qingdao City: This 40 kilometer riverside greenway integrates functional areas such as sports, leisure tourism, and transportation on the basis of the original pedestrian path. It not only connects the park riverside, but also connects the green passage at the entrance of citizens' homes.
Riding, jogging, and scenic views are available. In recent years, various regions have continuously improved the quality of urban functions through greenway construction. At the same time, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development has also made road greening an important part of urban landscaping. In a series of policy documents, specific arrangements have been made for road greening, and the compliance rate of urban road greening and the coverage rate of urban shaded roads have been identified as important contents of creating a garden city, promoting the achievement of the goal of "where there are roads, there are trees, and where there are trees, there is shade" in various regions.
Connecting the Public Service Network with Greenways
In recent years, various regions have been continuously weaving urban greenways to see greenery when going out, while also vigorously promoting the "greenway+" model, which constructs a "15 minute basic public service circle" through the construction of greenways and connects various public service points with greenways.
In Xuzhou, Jiangsu, the recently fully opened Heping Road Greenway is the first greenway in the main urban area. At the beginning of the renovation, the local government established the principle of adding or renovating small venues and integrating large scenes, in order to build a leisure, experiential, and fitness oriented urban green corridor space for citizens.
Li Rui, Deputy Director of the Landscape Department of Yunlong District, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province: The Heping Road Greenway follows the principle of "light decoration, heavy decoration", with graded supporting public service facilities and activity spaces to integrate urban greenways with daily life and meet the needs of residents of all ages.
In Chengdu, Sichuan, more than 6500 kilometers of greenways have been built at all levels, with over 1500 parks scattered throughout the city, and over 3500 cultural and tourism facilities and technological facilities implanted. In recent years, relying on green resources and open spaces such as greenways and parks, Chengdu has coordinated the layout of over 1700 cultural, sports, tourism, and commercial facilities, comprehensively improving the services of 42 commercial districts and 63 characteristic commercial blocks. Under the connection of greenways, cities become parks, and parks become homes. Stores, bookstores, flower shops, and cafes are distributed between greenways, providing citizens with more and better services.
Chengdu citizen Chen Junyan: The greenway facilities in Chengdu are very professional and comprehensive, such as rubber tracks, basketball courts, badminton courts, and many convenient facilities along the greenway.
At present, Chengdu city has planned and formed a regional, urban, and community level greenway system with the concept of "scenic, landscape, accessible, and participatory". With the help of these greenways, various departments actively promote the construction of various basic public service facilities, organically connecting existing cultural, educational, medical, sports and other urban and rural public service points, accelerating the construction of a "15 minute basic public service circle", allowing green not only to be spread at the doorstep, but also to provide more types of services for surrounding residents.

At present, the Chengdu experience in Sichuan has been promoted throughout the province, focusing on building a number of "greenway ecological parks", "greenway community parks", and "greenway sports stadiums".

The greenway is very "dao": using dao to please people and promoting business with dao
In addition to being visually appealing and fun, various regions have also continuously connected cities and surrounding rural areas through greenway construction in recent years, coordinating the development of cultural, sports, tourism, commerce, and agriculture integration, and creating more attractive, influential, and competitive new scenes for life and consumption.
The Yong'an Creek Greenway in Xianju County, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province is like a green ribbon, tightly nestled against the Yong'an Creek, forming a unique scenery that complements each other. It passes through six streets and towns, connecting 103 landscape nodes such as the Shenxianju Scenic Area, Gaoqian Ancient Residence, Danzhu Primitive Forest, and Tongjiang Academy. Around this greenway, local facilities such as large and small post stations, fast catering services, and cruise docks have been built, not only improving the tourist experience but also creating new scenes of diversified tourism consumption.

In addition, around the construction of greenways, the local area actively expands various sports and fitness events, launching a series of sports events such as the National Cycling Greenway, Green Yong'an Creek Vitality Rainbow Run, Greenway International Marathon, etc., attracting marathon enthusiasts and cycling enthusiasts from all over the country to experience ecological charm in the scenery of mountains, rivers, and countryside, and creating new sports consumption scenes.
Not only in Zhejiang, but in recent years, various regions have focused on the demand for nearby fitness among citizens, utilizing park green spaces, urban surplus space, and "golden corners and silver edges" to continuously build and renovate a number of sports parks, creating new scenarios for various types of sports consumption.

Our country's urban greenways have already begun relevant attempts, such as urban marathons, bicycles, jogging, fitness runs, and so on.
