Recently, a tourist posted a video claiming that while visiting a temple in Chongqing, they found a Japanese deity enshrined in the temple and demanded that the staff immediately destroy it. The staff explained that someone else had taken it here. Subsequently, under the supervision of the tourist, the staff member walked out with the "statue" in hand, preparing to destroy it.
According to the video released by the tourist, the above-mentioned Japanese evil deity, dressed in black and white armor and wearing a unique Edo period hat, stands next to the statue of Guanyin.
A netizen left a message below the video stating that the temple is suspected to be a temple in Fengdu County, Chongqing.
On August 9th, Top News learned from relevant staff of the Chongqing Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee that although the incident occurred in Fengdu County, Chongqing, it was not a legitimate temple rumored online.
"It is a belief worship site spontaneously organized by the people, and the person who placed the statue was a local farmer. On August 5th, when we learned about this matter, we had already dealt with the people involved and the venue. The venue has been closed, and the statue was also destroyed on the same day," the staff said.
