Jean Eric Rakutu Alisova, former president of the Madagascar High Constitutional Court and law professor at the University of Tananarivo, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that the right to development is an important component of human rights, and "poverty is a serious violation of human rights.".
Rakutu Ali Suva stated that one of China's great achievements in the field of human rights governance is the elimination of absolute poverty in the country within just a few decades. This experience is particularly important for underdeveloped countries like Madagascar.
Rakutu Ali Suva said that the right to development is undoubtedly an important component of human rights, and poverty is a serious violation of human rights. People who have been living in poverty and underdevelopment for a long time find it difficult to enjoy basic economic and social rights such as healthcare and education.
Lakutu Ali Suwa visited China in 2008 and 2023, witnessing the development and transformation of China from rural to urban areas. "I saw schools and hospitals rising from the ground in rural areas of Jiangxi, and also felt the convenience brought by automated customs clearance facilities at airports in Beijing," said Lakutu Ali Suwa. "The Chinese government is focused on solving the most urgent livelihood problems.".
On May 12th, in the town of Mayiqi near the capital of Madagascar, Tananarivo, Chinese hybrid rice technology expert Hu Yuefang exchanged ideas with local farmers in the experimental field of the African branch of the China National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center. He said that China has shown the world through its own experience that as long as there is good national governance, many countries can achieve poverty alleviation and sustainable development. "This is a long-term development strategy that focuses on the future of humanity. Without sustainable development, we cannot enjoy the long-term dividends of development."
Lakutu Ali Suva said he realized that modernization is not equivalent to Westernization. "Development must be based on the history of each country, taking into account each country's national conditions. We can learn from the development experiences of other countries, but we cannot simply replicate them, but we must respect each country's uniqueness."
When it comes to China's global development initiative, Rakutu Ali Suva said that the global development initiative is particularly positive for underdeveloped countries. Many African countries have enormous development potential, but have yet to overcome poverty and underdevelopment. "China emphasizes cooperation and unity in development, and is willing to share its own development experience and provide technical assistance, which undoubtedly brings good news to many African countries."
