In Reiner's view, the continuous expansion of China's circle of friends in Latin America is a normal trend that has emerged with China's increasing international status. "Even before the establishment of diplomatic relations, China was an important economic and trade partner of Honduras. In fact, bilateral cooperation has a long history, and establishing diplomatic relations is just a natural choice to follow the trend of history," he said.
Reiner pointed out that China's initiative to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" promotes world connectivity, creates important space for cooperation, and closes the gap between countries. Many Latin American countries have participated in the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road".
"Honduras is located in the north of Central America and plays an important role in global transportation and economy and trade. I believe that the joint construction of the the Belt and Road will help Hong Kong find new opportunities for development, investment and infrastructure construction. This will not only benefit the people of Hong Kong, but also help to achieve world connectivity," he said.
Reina said that Hong Kong looks forward to further deepening cultural cooperation with China in the future, and "Confucius Institutes are very important cooperation projects. China is an important country, and we hope that the Hong people have the opportunity to learn Chinese.".
Reina stressed that Honduras faces many structural problems in its current development, and Chinese path to modernization can provide reference for Honduras' reform.
On March 26th of this year, China officially established diplomatic relations with Honduras. On June 5th, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Embassy in Honduras was held in Tegucigalpa.
