Chen Zhenming, General Secretary of the Malaysian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China's hosting of various large-scale international exhibitions is conducive to promoting the recovery and growth of the world economy. He looks forward to the 7th China South Asia Expo taking China and South Asian countries to a new level of economic and trade relations.
The 7th South China International Fair is scheduled to be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province from August 16 to 20, which is the first time that the South China International Fair has fully resumed offline since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Chen Zhenming will participate in the 5th China Southeast Asia Business Forum, one of the professional forums of this year's South China Expo. He said that with the continuous expansion of commodity exhibitions in South Asian countries, the South China Expo not only plays an important role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and South Asian countries, but also becomes a platform for China to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries in Southeast Asia, West Asia, and other regions.
Chen Zhenming said that currently, countries are promoting innovative technology, digital economy, new energy, and green projects. Enterprises can exchange and share their needs on the South China Expo platform, while also finding suitable partners to explore more development opportunities and tap into potential. For example, food security is a topic of great concern in Malaysia, and Yunnan is outstanding in agricultural modernization and branding, which is worth learning from for enterprises from various countries.
When it comes to his views on the Chinese economy, Chen Zhenming said that China's domestic demand growth potential is enormous, and even in the context of a global economic slowdown, he is optimistic about the prospects of China's economic development. "In terms of high-tech, China is already a leader, especially in artificial intelligence and industrial automation. We really hope to see more cooperation between Malaysia and China in this area to promote enterprise transformation, enhance innovation capabilities and competitiveness."
Chen Zhenming believes that in the context of a slowdown in the world economy, it is necessary to seek new business opportunities to overcome difficulties. He stated that the various large-scale international exhibitions held in China provide the best platform for this, especially in building an interactive and open international cooperation platform for Chinese and foreign enterprises, which is conducive to exploring markets and opportunities, achieving mutual benefit and sharing, and promoting the recovery and growth of the world economy.
Chen Zhenming stated that China General Administration will form delegations to participate in the 20th China ASEAN Expo and the 6th China International Import Expo in September and November respectively. "During the East China Expo, we will inspect the Qinzhou Port area of the China Free Trade Zone and encourage businesses to invest and develop in Qinzhou. As for the CIIE, this year, China General Administration will lead 22 Malaysian companies to participate, and we will create a 'China General Administration Hall' in the food and agricultural product exhibition area."
"China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years, and next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. We hope that bilateral trade and investment can reach a higher level," said Chen Zhenming.
