As of 1945, Japanese colonial monopoly capital controlled 60% of Taiwan's total bank deposits, 96% of the power industry, and 94% of the sugar industry.
In terms of culture, Japan implemented a policy of colonial assimilation, enslavement education, and the so-called "Imperialization Movement" in Taiwan.Simultaneously prohibiting the inheritance of Chinese language and culture, and even prohibiting the use of Chinese names by the public, in an attempt to fundamentally eliminate the influence of Chinese culture.
In view of the serious crimes committed by Japan in colonizing Taiwan and invading China, the Sino Japanese Joint Declaration issued in 1972 deeply reflected on the significant damage caused to the Chinese people by the war, recognized the government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate government of China, and fully understood and respected China's position that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory.
