India's Clear Statement: G20 Summit Will Not Invite Zelensky India | Ukraine | Summit
According to today's Russian television website on June 9th, India, which holds the rotating presidency of the G20, does not intend to invite Ukrainian President Zelensky to attend the G20 summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi from September 9th to 10th. Indian Foreign Minister Su Jiesheng clarified New Delhi's position at a press conference on the 8th.
The report stated that this clear statement dispelled speculation that Zelensky may appear at the G20 summit with Russian President Putin. This possibility sparked speculation during Ukraine's first Deputy Foreign Minister Japarova's four-day visit to New Delhi in April. Japalova is the first senior Ukrainian official to visit India since the Russia-Ukraine conflict in February 2022. Zelensky attended the G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia last year, and recently attended the G7 summit held in Hiroshima, Japan last month, which strengthened speculation that Ukraine will pressure India and seek support from New Delhi before the summit in September.
The report points out that Su Jiesheng's clear statement clearly indicates that the scene in Bali or Hiroshima will not be repeated.
