India is "aiming" at the sun again!, After the moon
According to Reuters on August 28th, the Indian space agency announced that India's first probe to study the sun will be launched on September 2nd.
This news was posted on social media X. A few days ago, India became the first country to land a spacecraft on the unexplored South Pole of the Moon.
The "Sun Earth L1 Point Sun" spacecraft is India's first space-based solar probe aimed at studying the solar wind, which may cause interference to the Earth.
The Indian space agency stated that the probe will be launched using a polar satellite carrier rocket from the main space launch site in Srihrigoda, and the PSLV will fly approximately 1.5 million kilometers.
In a post on social media X, the Indian Space Research Organization stated, "The total travel time for the 'Sun Earth L1 Point Sun' spacecraft from launch to L-1 is approximately 4 months."
The Indian government approved funding equivalent to $46 million for this task in 2019. ISRO has not yet provided the latest official data on costs.
