India announces successful launch of lunar ship | Moon | 3
According to CNN, on the afternoon of the 14th local time, the Indian lunar probe "Luna 3" was launched into space. According to reports, if the lunar probe successfully lands in August, India will become the fourth country to make a soft landing on the lunar surface.
According to reports, at around 14:35 local time, the lunar rover "Lungshan-3" carrying an orbiter, lander, and rover was launched from the Sri Harikota Space Center in Andhra Pradesh, India. The lander will arrive on the moon from August 23rd to 24th and conduct 14 days of scientific activities on the lunar surface.
According to the BBC, scientists are expected to begin reducing the rocket's speed in the coming weeks to allow for a soft landing. If everything goes according to plan, the six wheeled lunar rover on board Luna 3 will be ejected and roam around the rocks and craters on the lunar surface, collecting key data and images, and sending them back to Earth for analysis.
Sridhara Panik Somanat, the head of the Indian Space Research Organization, confirmed on social media Twitter on the evening of the 14th that the spacecraft, HMS 3, is in a "precise orbit" flight and has already "begun its journey to the moon.". He also added that the overall condition of the spacecraft is "normal".

The report states that the budget for "Moonship 3" is less than 75 million US dollars. This launch also has a secondary task: to demonstrate India's open attitude towards private sector space competitions. Since India opened up to private launches in 2020, the number of Indian space startups has more than doubled, and by the end of 2022, India had launched its first privately manufactured rocket.
India's lunar exploration mission was not smooth sailing, as early as 2008. In 2008, India successfully launched its first lunar probe, Luna 1, which obtained a large amount of images and exploration data. However, Luna 1, which was originally planned to operate for two years, lost contact in August 2009.
In July 2019, India launched the Luna 2 lunar probe. On September 7th, the lander of the probe lost contact while attempting a soft landing on the lunar surface. The Indian Space Research Organization has attempted multiple times to restore communication but has been unsuccessful.
Currently, only spacecraft from the United States, Russia, and China have successfully landed on the moon globally. If the Indian lunar probe successfully lands on the moon, India will become the fourth country in the world to land on the moon.
